The 21st Century Schoolhouse non-profit organization offers schools and school districts a model for creating, implementing and maintaining a program that empowers students and staff to integrate local action (service learning), community education and international collaboration into a school or school district's existing curriculum structure.
The model provides schools with a vehicle for meeting the high educational standards of the next century while giving students multiple opportunities to achieve those standards. At the same time, students and teachers utilize the tool of interactive Web sites to promote content knowledge, technological literacy, collaborative problem-solving and mutual understanding.
Each new school that joins the Schoolhouse benefits from a weeklong, onsite training session. The session equips staff and students to effectively participate in The 21st Century Schoolhouse projects and activities.
